Hello TQAQ Readers!
Are you aware of the Publishing Fiasco of 2026? Eager to hear about my WIP? If so, stay tuned…
Publishing Fiasco of 2026
Well, that’s not really an official title. I’ve just dubbed this summer as such. In late May, I received an unexpected email that my publisher was shutting its doors. It’s a sad reality that dozens upon dozens of the smaller independent presses are having to close, so I was not entirely surprised by the news.
Knee-deep in my current work in progress, I was quite disappointed that I needed to step away from writing to plunge myself into the depths of the self-publishing world. What often takes independent authors months and months to tackle, I needed to accomplish in a matter of weeks. After all, Through Quick and Quinn was being pulled off the market, and the longer I took to self-publish it, the longer the book would be unavailable to new readers. I mentally prepared myself for a crash course, finding comfort in the fact that I now have countless author friends I could call if I needed help.
Within days, I familiarized myself with everything from Atticus (for formatting) to KDP (for publishing). I asked seemingly endless questions via Instagram voice messaging, and researched pros and cons of different options for hours at a time. Should I put TQAQ on Kindle Unlimited? Should I go with Draft2Digital or Ingram Spark? Should I do the 35% or the 70% royalties? The questions just kept on coming.
All the while, TQAQ was being removed from stores and online platforms.
And all the while, I wasn’t writing my second book.
The month of June was a rollercoaster of stressful emotions, especially when I learned that I may lose all of the Amazon reviews TQAQ has earned over the last 18 months. But in the end, it is what it is. I can only do my best, one day at a time.
So where are we at now?
TQAQ is available on Amazon and on Kindle Unlimited. I’m working on getting it back on Audible, and I’m in the middle of conversations regarding the lost reviews. All good things, all in good time!
My WIP (Work in Progress)
It’s. Nearly. Done.
If I had to guess, I’d say that I’ll be done with the first draft by Friday! So then what? I’ll send the draft off to beta readers, who will give me feedback regarding plot, pacing, character development, and more. In the meantime, I will drum up some buzz around the book with things like the title reveal, character art, etc. through social media and blog posts. I’ll also be working on the summary blurb for the back of the book, and subscribers like you will definitely be the first to read it!
Stay tuned. This book is going to blow you away.
Do you have any questions? I’m an open book! Just email me and I’ll satisfy any of your TQAQ/WIP curiosities!
THANK YOU
TQAQ readers and supporters blew me away when the fiasco’s news came out. You all rallied around me and offered everything from prayers to assistance with the process. I was deeply touched by the genuine encouragement from the community. Thank you.
From the start, it’s been YOU. The readers. The subscribers. The supporters. YOU are the ones who have helped TQAQ reach the hearts its touched, and I would be lost without you. Thank you for spreading the word, suggesting TQAQ for book clubs, sharing the curriculum, and all of the other things you do to help with this grass roots movement. I appreciate you more than I can express!
Best,
